The TUV false accusation that the Prime Minister’s proposed financial package for Policing and Justice was a con has been dismissed as scaremongering. Mr. Allister alleged that any money drawn from ‘the reserve’ (Treasury) would have to be paid back therefore it was only a loan. Commenting the DUP’s Lagan Valley MP Rt. Hon. Jeffrey Donaldson said,
“Any drawing upon ‘the reserve’ will not need to be paid back. This is plain and simply wrong. Once again Jim Allister demonstrates his breathtaking propensity for scaremongering. Almost every prediction that Jim Allister and his group have made on the issue of policing and justice has been shown to bear no relation to the truth.
· TUV told us that Sinn Fein would hold the Justice Ministry – that has been shown to be a lie.
· TUV told us Martin McGuinness would be appointing judges – that was a flagrant untruth.
· TUV told us that policing was going to come under North-South control – that was false.
TUV needs to realise that it can never be morally right to tell downright lies for the purposes of scaring people into supporting their party. Having been proven wrong on these claims, whatever shred of credibility Jim had in the past has been shot to pieces.”
